MOTOCROSS
Motocross Gear & Kit: Fox and 100 Percent Riding Equipment
The motocross category at Foxracing.si brings together everything you need to ride off-road: jerseys, pants, gloves, helmets, goggles, boots and body protection, plus spare parts and accessories for your kit. It covers adult and junior riders, from first laps on a practice track to weekend racing and enduro trail days. Everything here is built for dirt, roost and heat, so it is cut for a riding position and made to breathe.
What you will find in this category
- Equipment – the core riding kit: jerseys and pants, gloves, helmets, goggles, boots and protection worn on the bike.
- Spare parts – replacement items that wear out or break first, such as goggle lenses, tear-offs, helmet visors and pads, buckles and straps, so you can refresh gear you already own instead of replacing it.
- Children's collection – youth-sized jerseys, pants, gloves, helmets and goggles for young riders on 50cc to 85cc bikes, sized for smaller frames rather than scaled-down adult cuts.
- Add-ons – the extras around riding: bags and gear bags, casual and pit wear, caps, socks and small parts that complete your setup.
How to choose motocross gear
- Helmet fit first. Measure the circumference of your head just above the eyebrows and match it to the size chart. The helmet should press evenly all round, with no movement when you shake your head and no pressure points.
- Goggle and helmet compatibility. Check that the goggle frame sits flush in the helmet eyeport. Consider lens tint for conditions – clear or low-light lenses for dull days and evenings, mirrored or tinted lenses for bright sun – and whether you want roll-offs or tear-offs for mud.
- Jersey and pant cut. Motocross pants are sized in waist numbers and are cut long and pre-shaped at the knee; check that the knee panel lines up with your knee brace or knee pad. Jerseys should be loose enough to wear over a chest protector.
- Protection level. Decide between a chest protector or roost deflector for impact and roost, a pressure-suit style body armour, plus knee braces or knee guards and elbow guards. Look for CE marking on impact protectors.
- Boots. Look at sole stiffness, buckle system and ankle support. Motocross boots feel stiff when new and break in with use, so they should be snug, not roomy.
- Season and ventilation. Perforated, lightweight fabrics for summer riding; heavier or layered gear plus a base layer for cold and wet conditions.
- Growing riders. For children, prioritise correct helmet and boot size over buying big – oversized protection moves on impact and does not do its job.
Brands
This category features Fox, one of the longest-standing names in motocross clothing, protection and helmets, and 100 Percent, known above all for goggles, lenses and gloves. Both offer full head-to-toe options for adults and youth riders.
Frequently asked questions
What gear do I need to start riding motocross?
At minimum: a motocross helmet, goggles, gloves, jersey, pants and boots, plus knee protection and a chest protector or roost deflector. Many riders add elbow guards, a neck brace and a base layer as they ride more often.
Can I use a motocross helmet with any goggles?
Most motocross helmets and goggles follow similar shapes, but eyeport sizes differ. Check that the frame sits flat against your face with no gaps at the nose or forehead, and that the strap sits in the helmet's goggle channel.
How should motocross pants fit?
Snug at the waist without a belt pulling them closed, with enough room in the thigh and knee for braces or guards underneath. The leg should be long enough to stay inside the boot when you stand on the pegs.
Do children need motocross-specific gear?
Yes. Youth gear uses lighter helmets, smaller goggle frames and narrower boots suited to a child's build and neck strength, which adult sizes cannot match.
Can I replace parts of my gear instead of buying new?
Often yes – goggle lenses, straps, helmet visors and liners, and boot buckles are commonly available as spare parts, which extends the life of gear you already trust.
